Superior Northland Aggregates
United Kara Quarry offers superior northland aggregate through a range of roading and drainage materials, plus material in the form of brown rock for the farm. Offering a range of processed products and unprocessed (Blue/Blue Brown Quarry Run) products. We can meet the NZTA TNZ M/4 Clay Index standard of ‘not greater than 3’ when our aggregates are tested according to NZS 4407 : 2015, Test 3.5 Clay Index Test, see our latest test results.
GAP 25
General All Passing 25 (GAP 25) crushed and screened to 25mm aggregate. Use on metal driveways or around the yard. Easy to spread by hand and compacts well to give a fine finish.
GAP 40
General All Passing 40 (GAP 40) crushed and screened to 40mm topcourse aggregate. Use as base metal for driveways and finishing local roads.
GAP 65
General All Passing 65 (GAP 65) crushed and screened to 65mm aggregate. Use as heavy grade basecourse for driveways and roads or as a sub base material of building platforms.
Blue/Brown 65
Blue/Brown 65 All Passing crushed and screened to 65mm aggregate. Use as heavy grade basecourse for driveways, roads and building sites.
Blue/Brown 150
Blue/Brown 150 All Passing crushed and screened to 150mm aggregate. Use as heavy grade basecourse for driveways, roads and building sites.
Drainage Metal
40/20 and 65/40 Drainage Blue Quarry Run screened between 40mm to 65mm and contains no fines. Use as drainage metal for retaining walls and drainage beds.
Quarry Spalls
Greywacke Quarry Spalls of a variety of sizes. Use for rockwalls and support areas liable to slipping.
Rip Rap
Greywacke Rip Rap processed between 80mm to 150mm. Use in open drains to help slow down water flow, prevents scarring of waterways and can be used in gabion baskets.
Blue Quarry Run
Dug from the quarry face and is unprocessed and won’t have high levels of clay or silt. Contains large rocks which may need machinery to breakup for compaction. Use as a hard basecourse in wet areas that need a heavy build up.
Blue Brown Quarry Run
Dug from the quarry face and is unprocessed. Contains large sharp rock and can be very hard. Will need machinery to breakup for compaction. Use as a hard basecourse in soft areas. Not suitable to cow races.
Brown Quarry Run
Brown rock unprocessed of un-uniform size and unscreened. Use for dairy farm races and building up low areas.
Filling
General clay fill. May contain some soft rock (subject to grade). Use to build up an area or to fill holes.
Caring for our resources
We care about the land we work with and the sustainability of the Maungatapere environment. We complete water quality testing and practice back-filling of our overburden material at the quarry where possible.
Transport and delivery
Moving all of this Superior Northland Aggregate takes specialist transport. For the majority of our customers, they arrange their own transportation of their aggregate, from heavy truck and trailers to personal 6x4 car trailers.
Although we do not operate our own transport fleet, we can put you in touch with local operators, on request.
